SURVIVAL ON THE MARGINS: A SERIES

When I asked my father to make a portrait of me, he made by hand, a survival bracelet that is my height with two different knots intertwined. A collaboration and conversation between my father and myself. I constructed the steel and concrete base that sits on forged anvils, one bronze, and one aluminum.

Made in reaction to the shooting at Pulse nightclub where 49 LGBTQ people were shot and killed. There are 49 layers of felt; some felted together, some ripped apart from touch.

Made in reaction to the shooting at Pulse nightclub where 49 LGBTQ people were shot and killed. I shot an AR 15 at multiple bottles of cyanotype fluid exploding the bottles onto this giant sheet of muslin.
