UNTITLED (FATHER'S PORTRAIT OF TRANS* ONLY CHILD)

When I asked my father to make a portrait of me, he made by hand, a survival bracelet that is my height with two different knots intertwined.  A collaboration and conversation between my father and myself. I constructed the steel and concrete base that sits on forged anvils, one bronze, and one aluminum.

Materials: Aluminum, bronze, steel, concrete, 5’7” of 150lb test polypropoline rope

Dimensions: 3.5ft x 10in x 10in

UNTITLED (FELT)

Made in reaction to the shooting at Pulse nightclub where 49 LGBTQ people were shot and killed. There are 49 layers of felt; some felted together, some ripped apart from touch.

Materials: Cyanotyped felt, gunpowder, C-clamps and pipe

Dimensions: 20in x 2.5 ft x 5in
